Organic pumpkin seeds
Organic pumpkin seeds
At first sight, the biggest asset of organic pumpkin seeds seems to be their appearance. Large in size and ranging in colour from pale to dark green, organic pumpkin seeds have a slightly floral flavour and work well in both sweet and savoury formulations. As toppings and inclusions, they contribute to the perceived quality of the finished product.
In baked goods, pumpkin seeds are used in speciality breads. In pastries, chocolate-making and frozen desserts, pumpkin seeds are a great alternative to pistachio nuts since they are just as delicious, and more economical too!
At breakfast time, organic pumpkin seeds add interest to seed and grain mixes like granola or muesli, thanks to their colour, size and flavour. Organic pumpkin seeds are also ideal for use in cereal bars, for an allergen-free formulation.
Carried out in our production units, toasting puffs up the pumpkin seeds slightly. They then add crunch and a woody flavour as salad toppings or in soups.
Caramelisation or salting, performed to order, optimises the use of pumpkin seeds in snack mixes, for example. But pumpkin seeds are much more than a pretty face: they’re tasty too!
Seeds that are full of goodness
Organic pumpkin seeds are oilseeds. Therefore, they are high in fat with an excellent balance of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids (oleic and linoleic acids).
In terms of protein, organic pumpkin seeds have one of the highest contents, with more than 30%. Their mineral content (magnesium, zinc, copper, iron and potassium), along with their vitamins and antioxidants, make organic pumpkin seeds a healthy ingredient.
These benefits and virtues are particularly known to support urinary system function. The WHO (World Health Organisation) even recognises the medicinal use of pumpkin seeds to relieve symptoms of bladder irritation (or overactive bladder) and voiding disorders associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Finally, organic pumpkin seeds are beneficial to combat certain parasites of the digestive system.
For your applications, pumpkin seed bits or organic pumpkin seed paste may also be very useful.
Pumpkin seeds eaten since the dawn of time
Cucurbitaceae are native to Central and South America. From the very beginning, these cucurbit seeds were credited with digestive and diuretic properties. A reputation that has stood the test of time and has been confirmed by science.
There are a multitude of species, each with a large number of varieties.
The pumpkin seeds we propose can be one of two varieties: Lady Godiva GWS and Shine Skin are cousins, both belonging to the cucurbita pepo species. The flesh of these varieties is not very succulent, but their seeds are full of goodness and ideal for eating.
Today the main pumpkin seed growing countries in Europe are Austria and Poland. For your applications, organic pumpkin seed bits or organic pumpkin seed paste may also be very useful.
